Steve Dembo

A former kindergarten teacher and school Director of Technology, Steve Dembo is a pioneer in the field of educational social networking. He served as Discovery Education’s Director of Social Media Strategy and Online Community for ten years and was instrumental in the explosive growth of the Discovery Educator Network. Dembo was among the first educators to realize the power of blogging, podcasting, Twitter, and other Web 2.0 technologies in connecting educators and creating professional learning communities. Dembo is the co-author of the book Untangling the Web: 20 Tools to Power Up Your Teaching. The National School Board Association named him one of 2010's "Twenty to Watch," a list honoring individuals finding innovative ways to use technology to increase classroom learning. In 2013 he began serving the Skokie/Morton Grove District 69 as a member of the School Board. Dembo is a course designer and adjunct professor for Wilkes University where he serves as class instructor for the Internet Tools for Teaching course within the Instructional Media degree program.

Pauline Maas has a long previous career in IT. Some ten years ago however, she decided to switch to media education, working for a variety of non-profit organizations. She developed educational tools like "Internet kwartet" (internet quartet) and "Internet memory" (Internet memory card game) card games to teach children a more conscious and discerning way to use the internet. She is the author of "GameMaker4You" and "GameMaker4School", books that teach children to create their own computer games. Since 2014 Pauline is fully focussed on Maker Education, programming, and teaching digital skills to students as well as teachers. Specialties: help desk, software implementation, media wisdom, teaching materials for safe internet use, game maker.

Cheryl Peltier-Davis is Digital Initiatives, Cataloguing and Metadata Services Librarian at the Alma Jordan Library at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. She has given conference presentations on a diverse array of library-related topics including Web 2.0 and libraries, core competencies for librarians, digitizing library collections, information management, and Caribbean public libraries. Her continued interest in emerging technologies has led to the publication of two volumes of The Cybrarian's Web, a guide written to assist librarians and other information professionals keep current with social media tools and mobile apps.

My name is Johan Drenth. This is my 2nd year on Sint Maarten. In 2014 I moved from the Netherlands to Sint Eustatius and in 2015 I moved to Sint Maarten. I finished the teacher Education in 2013 and I finished my Pedagogical study in 2011. In my first year as a teacher, I worked as an substitute on several schools in The Netherlands. In my second year I taught grade 3 and 4 on Statia and in my 3rd year I taught the special education class for the Catholic schools on SInt Maarten ( kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2) . Currently I work as remedial teacher at 3 different schools on Sint Maarten.

Gail has served as a consultant in technology integration, early learning, literacy, and classroom management in a wide variety of settings.
